“FAMILY IS NOT DEFINED BY BLOOD” ZINE SERIES

This zine series tells a personal story about how ignorance and racism affected me negatively during my childhood and adolescence. Whether it was fueled by racism and ignorance or pure curiosity, my belonging in the U.S. was constantly questioned. The first zine was based off childhood experiences; the second shows my emotional state from junior high to beginning of high school; and the third zine spreads adoption awareness. In my experience, racism and discrimination has life-long effects, and this series was created to spread awareness of those negative effects while shedding light on positive takeaways.
